Definition/Scope: (JP 1-02) 1) Preventive measures taken to mitigate hostile actions against Department of Defense personnel, resources, facilities, and critical information. FP does not include actions to defeat the enemy or protect against accidents, weather, or disease. 2) Security program designed to protect soldiers, civilian employees, family members, facilities, and equipment in all locations and situations, accomplished through planned and integrated application of combatting terrorism, physical security.
