COL Paul P. Reese is from St. Louis, Missouri. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in Armor in 1990 from the United States Military Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Point and a Doctorate in Military History from Florida State University. His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Scout Platoon Leader’s Course, CAS3, and the Command and General Staff College (CGSC).

COL Reese began his career with the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) at Fort Bliss, TX, where he served as a tank platoon leader in I Troop, executive officer for M Company, and the Squadron’s support platoon leader and S-3 Air. While assigned to 3rd ACR, he participated in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.

In April 1995, COL Reese was assigned to Camp Casey, Korea as the Battalion S-3 Air for 1-72 AR (First Tank). In May 1996, COL Reese reported to Fort Riley, KS and took command of Headquarters and Headquarter Company, 1-13 AR and later A Company, 1-13 AR. During this time he conducted an operational deployment with his tank company as part of Task Force 1-41 IN, Stabilization Force (SFOR), Bosnia-Herzegovina. Upon his return from Bosnia, COL Reese was assigned as the Brigade Plans Officer for 3rd BDE, 1st Armor Division.

After completing his Degree in Military History at Florida State University, COL Reese served as Assistant Professor of Military History at the United States Military Academy from 2000-2003. He left West Point and attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS from 2003-2004. After CGSC, he reported to Fort Stewart, GA as the Executive Officer for 3/7 Cavalry (Garryowen!), 3rd Infantry Division and later as Brigade Operations Officer for the Rock of the Marne Division’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team. During this time, he participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom III, deployed in and around East Baghdad. After returning from Iraq, COL Reese was assigned to the Military District of Washington in June 2006 as a Joint Ground Maneuver Analyst on the Joint Staff.

From June 2008 to June 2010, COL Reese commanded 1st Squadron, 16th Cavalry regiment at Fort Knox, KY. After Squadron command COL Reese was assigned as the Deputy Commander, 4th BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, TX and deployed to Mosul, Iraq as part of Operation New Dawn. Upon redeployment in September 2011, COL Reese was reassigned as the III Corps Chief of Current Operations. While serving with III Corps, COL Reese deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where is served as the ISAF Joint Command CJOC Director.

In July 2014, the U.S. Army assigned COL Reese as the Director for the U.S Army’s Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL), Fort Leavenworth, KS.

COL Reese married since May 2000 and they have two children, daugther (10), and son (7).
