Warrant Officer Senior Service Education (WOSSE)
The Warrant Officer Senior Service Education (WOSSE) is a resident 4-week, MOS-immaterial, professional military education course preceded by a DL phase. Phase 1 (DL) must be completed prior to attending the resident Phase 2. This course is only taught at the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College (WOCC).
Purpose: The WOSSE provides senior CW4s and new CW5s with the senior level education, knowledge, and influential leadership skills necessary to apply their technical expertise in support of leaders on strategic level joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational (JIIM) organizations executing Unified Land Operations thru Decisive Action.
Questions: You may email questions regarding WOSSE to the Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org Download the attached Welcome Letter from the Commandant for contact phone numbers. Course dates, course prerequisites and special information may be found on ATRRS; go to https://www.atrrs.army.mil/atrrscc/, and search for Course Number 1-250-C9.
Registration: Obtain a reservation for the course through your training section and/or branch manager. WOCC is not able to reserve student seats in ATRRS.
You may not enroll in WOSSE less than 12 months after completing the Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education (WOILE) course.
AKO Account: You must have an AKO account that is not linked to another email account and can be accessed by AKO user name and password, NOT CAC. All correspondence will be conducted via official AKO email, please ensure that it is functional and that you have daily access.
Phase 1 (DL): Phase 1 is the nonresident distributed learning (DL) phase. It is a 48-hour course taught asynchronously in the Blackboard learning content management system (web-based) over a 60 day period, designed to prepare students for the resident phase. It is NOT self-paced! Phase 1 (DL) asynchronous education consists of assigned professional readings, submission of two written papers, and participation in student to student, and student to instructor discussions.
After receiving an ATRRS notification for Phase 2 course 1-250-C9, go to WOSSE DL Enrollment to identify the DL group for Phase 2 ATRRS reservations and follow instructions to pre-register for DL. Each DL Group is guided through gated modules following a schedule that supports student and instructor interaction. Reserved Phase 2 seats for those who do not complete the DL on time will be reallocated to the next individual on the wait list who has completed the DL.
Expect an ATRRS message approximately one to two weeks prior to the start date of the DL Group assigned that's in conjunction with your Phase 2 ATRRS reservation.
Phase 2 is the resident phase of the WOSSE.
NEW: Effective with courses beginning after 1 November 2012, successful completion of the APFT and height and weight screening are mandatory for course graduation. After the initial APFT and height and weight screening, one retest and/or height and weight screening is allowed.
