Guidelines for Submitting an Article to ConnectedTM
Mission Statement
ConnectedTM is published by the Army Operational Knowledge Management Proponent, headquartered at the Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, KS. CONNECTED is a forum for expressing original, creative and innovative thought about knowledge management and it disseminates KM news, TTPs and best practices.
Publication Summary
The primary audience for ConnectedTM includes KM Sections, Knowledge Management Officers (KMOs) and KM practitioners at all echelons, in addition to any Soldier who wants to learn more about KM. Contents of this publication are not necessarily the official views of, or endorsed by, the U.S. Government, the Department of the Army, the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center nor Fort Leavenworth. All articles included in the newsletter are reviewed with one question in mind: How will this story help the Army improve unit and individual training, readiness and performance?
Articles that are most appropriate for publication in ConnectedTM include:

New developments in the KM field. |
| |
• |

Articles that recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements in the area of KM. |

• |

Any article that will help Soldiers and units employ AOKM principles more effectively in their jobs and missions. |
Articles that are not appropriate for publication in ConnectedTM include:

Advertisements and editorials for personal gain. |
| |
• |
|
Contentious articles that may result in litigation or any other adverse publicity. |

• |
|
Articles loaded with buzzwords, jargon or other content that a general readership may not understand. |
Story Guidelines
Make the story relevant to Connected’sTM primary audience
Length: Articles between 500-1000 words, usually about 1 – 3 pages, double-spaced. Visuals (charts, graphs, photos) submitted for publication (max 3) should include captions. Articles may include hyperlinks to more in-depth information.
Style: Use simple, clear phrases, sentences and paragraphs. Authors are responsible for obtaining approvals for all quotes used in the article. Bylines (25 words or less) and photo credits should be included.

Submitting your article:

Create a Word file, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point. |
| |
• |
|
Include a suggested headline. |
| |
• |
|
Ensure your chain of command approves your article, as it will be published in the public domain. |

• |
|
Send the Word file as an attachment via e-mail to the e-mail address in ConnectedTM. |
