Colonel John Vermeesch, Director, Center for the Army Profession and Ethic (CAPE) and other members of the CAPE leadership team shared the Army story with the General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen of New York City. The meeting presented a unique opportunity to discuss the Army Profession and ethic with one of New York City's oldest professional organizations. Founded in 1785, the General Society continues to serve and improve the quality of life of the people of the City of New York. CAPE’s participation in the event also supported the USMA Superintendent’s strategic objective of outreach to NYC.

Lieutenant Gen. Michael Lundy, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, inducts General Surapong Suwana-adth, Chief of Defense Forces for the Royal Thai Armed Forces, into the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College International Hall of Fame on July 11 at the Lewis and Clark Center. Leadership Kansas toured and visited with members of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, Army University, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College on June 30, 2017 at the Lewis and Clark Center. Leadership Kansas is a statewide program designed to enhance and motivate leaders from various Kansas communities. Each year, close to 700 people are nominated to apply for the Program. Upon the conclusion of a thorough and thoughtful application and selection process, 40 individuals are selected to participate in the Class. Leadership Kansas is dedicated to ensuring geographic, racial, occupational, and gender diversity so that each class is truly representative of the state. (Photo by Dan Neal)

On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War (June 25), Lt. Col. Kyunghwan Jung hosted a reception in honor of the greater Kansas City Korean War Veterans. Eighty Kansas and Missouri Veterans and widows of the Korean war were honored as Jung thanked them for their sacrifice to his country.
